Re: Votex Alarm system! Help/knowledge/info required please!
Probably read the fault codes 20 times in the last two months! As well as changing the ecu, injection pump, crank sensor, engine speed sensor and probably some other stuff I've forgotten now!

Votex Alarm system! Help/knowledge/info required please!
Hi guys, I have been having issues with my passat for months! It's been off the road since November, because it starts and then cuts out immediately afterwards. To cut a long story short, I have found out today it has a votex alarm system fitted with some sort of socket in the boot. There is a good ...

Re: B5 TDI AFN Engine won't run.......HELP!!
Immobiliser thing did occur to me, but wouldn't there be a fault code or the immo light flashing on the dash? Also wouldnt the immobiliser cut ALL the fuel, not just some of it or enough for it to start. I have changed the fuel filter and it's definitely diesel in there, you can smell it in the filt...

Re: B5 TDI AFN Engine won't run.......HELP!!
Forgot to add, the latest is that we have changed the injection pump for a good used one. Exactly the same problem remains. We've cracked a couple of the injector pipes off, there's just no pressure there so the fault is pre-injector. If it was glow plug related I'm pretty sure we would have been ab...

B5 TDI AFN Engine won't run.......HELP!!
This is a last ditch attempt for some help as I'm closed to torching the *no swearing* thing. Our story begins two weeks before xmas. I filled my pasty up with diesel at the local shell garage, it was about halfway down the red part of the gauge so wasn't run dry. Anyway, about 10 miles later it's w...

Whats a B5 TDI sport worth?
The time has come to think about a new motor....I have a hankering for another V6  Anyway, its a 99MY S-plate 1.9 TDI 110bhp Sport in light blue. Totally stock, full history, a list (and receipts) of stuff I've had done to it as long as your arm....including: Cambelt, water pump and all ten...

High mileage B5.5 1.8T's.....
Any problems? Might be looking for a B5.5 soon and im bored of diesels, so a 1.8T sounds like a plan at the moment. A few cars I've seen have pretty scary mileages on them but most seem to be 120-130k. Whats the likelihood of needing a recon turbo within a few months, or has anyone else had any othe...

Mind you my gaffers old B6 had 9 dealer warranty visits in 18 months of ownership. I wouldn't buy a new Passat

MOT day today.....and a fail....
Front brakes imbalanced and a splt cv boot. Brakes are concerning me, as I've just spent £70 on new front discs and pads and then realised that it could be a sticking caliper! Although that said, im getting some vibration through the front discs so im guessing one or both is/are warped anyway. Ques...

Good Lowering Springs??
As some of you may have read, I had my Passat lowered and then raised back to stock earlier this year because although the handling was much improved I couldnt take the thing anywhere because it had no ground clearance. Can anyone recommend some springs which will give me a subtle drop and will look...

Rear Discs and Pads / PAS Pulley....
Going to attempt both jobs tomorrow (today :o ) I know ive got to clamp the flexi hoses and open the bleed nipples when I wind the pistons back in and replace the caliper bolts. Any other special procedures for this job or is the rest fairly simple? Also, my PAS pulley is worn and its eating belts. ...

Getting fed up now. Cat is rattling so needs replacing, and I cant see how im going to get a socket on the nuts on the lower flange. PAS Pulley is worn and keeps eating belts, but it looks like the entire front end of the car is going to have to come to get to the bolts. Went to change the rear disc...
