Re: are abs units interchangeable --111AB, --111B
Last letter is only revision number. So it will fit, but will need coding. Looks like your car has got newer ABS module, than the one you are looking to buy. Why don't you take it off and send it to BBA REMAN and you will have it within few days without any coding.

Re: Karls car up for sale soon
I sold all the bits off mine first, then sold the car. TBH I didn't struggle to sell it, it went for £100 less asking price. Ebay auction seems to be the way to go forward.
Don't forget to remove springs too. I'd not mention about any modification to the car as most people don't understand it.

Check oil cap.
I'd wash the engine, then see where it starts leaking.

Yes, sorry 66.5 to 57.1 I like that A5 wheels got very good offset. I think it's ET26! So no need for spacers.

The plastic part is different with armrest vs no armrest. You will need to get matching one. I think new one from dealers were around £45, so don't pay too much for second hand one.

Take it for £500. Even if you need cam replaced it would cost you £1000 for good car. It's unlikely for PD130 injector to fail.

I just sold B8 A4 2.0TDI. It's good looking car, but different league to A6. I like DPF system, it keeps car superclean.
By the way my A6 is 50kg heavier than A4... (both 2.0TDI)

Re: A view to buying... Skoda Octavia's
They don't suffer oil pump problems unlike B6 Passat and most Audis in that age range.
I'd stick to 1.9TDI or try streching your budget and get one with CR engine.

Re: New lights for b6
Do they have a shutter behind the lens that changes the beam to main beam like OEM bi-xenons do? I presume they are halogen? If you fit a HID kit in them, the warm up delay before you get full brightness will make them as good as useless for flashing. My A4 has Bixenon headlights and it is combined...

Get someone to start the car. Rev it and switch it off. You should be watching alternator pulley. If it's stops with the engine - pulley seized.
