Re: 2013 Vw Passat steering angle sensor

PS. Just a thought... Not sure about this application, but if the airbag warning illuminates on older cars because of a failed slip ring it is necessary to reset the warning light after replacing the slip ring. It will NOT reset itself. Have you tried clearing the error code and/or making any other ...

Re: 2013 Vw Passat steering angle sensor

Speculation: I suppose it could be that the difference between those two part numbers lays in the ribbon cable itself, (the one part you swapped over), though I do not think it likely. Then I found this thread elsewhere which suggests it may be necessary to 'code' the new part to the car, and you mi...

Re: 2013 Vw Passat steering angle sensor

Often referred to as the 'clock spring' or 'squib', VW used to call that item the 'slip-ring'. Curiously, it seems to now be called, (by VW), the 'control unit for steering column electronics' . Perhaps this only applies to later versions that include the steering angle sensor? The 2013 model lists ...

Re: Badges

There are many variations on that particular badge. Some relate to the style, some to the colour and to the particular version of the car to which it is attached. Doubtless any will stick well to a properly prepared surface, but if you want the actual correct badge for your particular car, your best...

Re: B7 R134A Air Con Schrader valve type

Sorry for any misunderstanding, I did not make myself clear. When I said 'I am pretty sure that these inserts are the same as those used in tyre valves......' , I meant it in the context of the tool used to remove the insert, being the same as the tool used for a tyre valve, not that the valve inser...

Re: B7 R134A Air Con Schrader valve type

Based on a 2012 model, both 'valve inserts', (low and high side), have the same part number: 8E0820855 I am pretty sure that these inserts are the same as those used in tyre valves, and are removed using the same tool as is used to remove the insert so as to rapidly deflate a tyre prior to changing ...

Re: Starter motor solenoid cable

When you refer to the 'solenoid cable' and mention 'running a cable directly from the battery to the solenoid', which cable to the solenoid do you mean? (there are two). Do you mean the really thick cable that connects to the solenoid with a stud and nut, (from the battery positive post), or do you ...

I know little about Diesels, but I did have something similar, just once, with my car which is petrol. Not sure of it will apply to you but I mention it just in case. I had gone out to the car on my drive, started it and immediately remembered I had left something I needed in the house, so I switche...

but it just wouldn't bite. Not sure quite what you mean by that. Do you mean that the starter was turning but was not engaged with the engine, so that the starter was spinning fast but the engine was not turning at all? I do not think that is what you mean as you later said that the engine was bein...

Try this:

Thanks for your reply Dave. There is no SKC I can find anywhere with the car's documents, and I have no way to interrogate the car for that info, (far less the knowledge it would require!!) I think I will just make do with the old-fashion key-in-the-door method and put up with getting a bit wetter w...

Rear wiper motor does not appear to be LHD/RHD specific, so a motor for a LHD car should be OK. Part number is 8L0955711B. Diagram of parts attached. The above part number is for the motor (item 5), and it SHOULD include items 14, 28, 19 & 17, but they may not be included with a pattern part or ...

Re: DRIVE SHAFT C.V. BOOT SEVERELY DETERIORATED N/S INNER

Am I right in thinking that by 'cover shield' you mean a heat shield between the CV boot and the exhaust pipe? If so, the inner cv boot on my SEAT (same arrangement) failed a few years ago due to the heat from the exhaust, (it would have lasted a lot less time without the heat shield though!), while...

Re: B8 Estate Boot Latch/Lock Broken

There appear to be three different types for your car, depending on whether or not it has 'power latch' (which I take to mean a powered tailgate*). *VW refer to this as a 'lid'. If it has a 'power latch' there are two options, these are dictated by the build date of the particular car. In any case, ...

Re: Clicking / buzzing sound in fuel cap cover when locking car

If the mechanism is making a noise but not operating, it suggests some kind of failure has occurred of what are almost certainly, (being a modern car), inadequate plastic bits! As far as I can tell for a 2015 car the fuel flap mechanism is all in one plastic box, (see diagram): fuelfiller.png The pa...

Re: heater issue

Blower/resistor issue.

I forgot to say that a constricted pollen filter may also cause the thermal fuse to fail as there could be insufficient cooling air flowing over the resistor, so check the filter and replace if necessary.

Re: heater issue

Heater fan issue is likely to be a failed resistor and often it is positions 1 and 4 that are the only settings that work. You'll need to replace it (located behind the glove box or to the right of the passenger foot well from memory). They often go on Passats at the point that the motor brushes we...

You could try asking Michelin themselves and see if they offer an explanation - assuming they answer at all that is.... many companies these days seem to just ignore their customers.

Re: Led drl

I suspect that the LEDs are probably a part of the actual headlight assy, and not a replaceable part. Not certain, but I think that the DRLs are switched off when the indicator is on, in which case it could possibly be a fault related to the indicator that is switching the DRL off, though I concede ...

Are you certain that your car has original headlights, or is it possible they are aftermarket (perhaps a different design)?

Are there any part numbers on the headlights?

If you can upload your car's year and a photo or two it might help.

I placed a post in the 'Other VAG' forum to see if anyone can advise about matching my remote key to the car. Not specific to your case, but a general comment based on my experience of buying a car battery on-line. The outer part of that arrangement has an internal flange through which the plastic pipe (smaller diameter) is pushed. Assuming that there are no splits in any of that pipework there should ne no need to add any sealant. The foam surround is not a water seal, more likely it is there as an any-rattle...
