Re: Egr restricter plate

Ive got one in my BNZ engine T5, the ECU spotted a blank and it is an electronic type that needs coding out, so I put in a restrictor plate. Cant remember exactly but its appx 8 - 9mm dia hole, and doesnt seem to bother the dpf or upset the ECU. The EGR is supposed to aid dpf regen cycles so its not...

You mean shock absorbers.

Bilstein B4 are equivalent to original but considered better.

I think it might be possible, my 07 T5 has illumination of the instruments with ignition.

That said it could also be as simple as the way its wired too.

Re: MOT just done with HID upgrade

Its largely down to the tester, their experience, their discretion. My current aftermarket headlights were rejected because I had HID in the low beam projectors, the Halfords centre I used is very strict to the rules. Ill have my high/low HID retrofit projectors fitted by next mot (On my T5), with s...

Re: sat nav while towing

And thats an original RNS system I assume? Or do you mean something put in at some point? If its an RNS of that age good luck the things are long out of date and no you cant put different nav software on it. Im not even sure theres still map updates for it (assuming you have the most recent updates?...

Re: Egr removal

Yes of course you should be replacing manifold gaskets you never usually reuse such items. Back when i got rid of my egr on my avf (same) i found some clown had stripped the thread on one of the 3 mounting holes, its only tapped holes in alloy and you must be careful not to overtighten. I ended up u...

Yes, not to mention if its an original vag/vw wheel your radius seat bolts are fine, or if its aftermarket and needs taper seat bolts.

Re: sat nav while towing

Modify your routing profile if you havent got a specific mode, and well if the nav lets you, to prioritise or deprioritise types of road.

Or get proper nav software for the job :

Considering youve said nothing about the PCD, the make, the offset or any such important details its impossible to answer. Re: parking sensors

Useless answer.

Regarding parking sensors you really need to do a VCDS fault scan to find out if there are any faults reported by the control module, and what those reported faults are.

Re: Electrical drain

Well work the problem logically as I said then, thats how its done. Prove the battery (replace, because its past due), prove the alternator and charging like the videos, check the alt belt and clutch pulley, then you know to start working down the system further or not. Its just basing auto electric...

If you can use a multimeter do the following, if not go to halfords, get a free battery test, if poor, buy and fit battery, if ok, go see an auto electrician. https://youtu.be/COJr7OB23Hw https://youtu.be/LGB6ZEjGm7Q There are known causes and possibilities but you have to prove the battery first. Had a few VW and had to put a few right, plenty more vehicles before that. Student life isnt forever, paying for it though that takes a while. Theres plenty others here who know a lot too and will likely help. Cars are a work in progress, some people struggle to even keep up with the basics but if y...

Re: 2 Issues? Pulsing whirring from front left wheel at 60+mph AND alternator whine.

Well thats a bit clearer, seemed like you meant the car had sat unused for ages. The dealer told you to check the service history clearly though, I'd have asked them why they hadnt straight away. I hope youre not delivering food or multidropping in it, believe me I know all too well the wear an tear...

£5 of petrol and a lighter should cure the problem. Then I'd do the same to the car too. :hyst One bit of advice, what you have done cutting the catalytic converter has rendered the car illegal and unable to pass an MOT test or whatever road safety inspection there is wherever you are. Its a Passat,...

Have you checked your service history, or did you get any history of the car at all? Re: 2 Issues? Pulsing whirring from front left wheel at 60+mph AND alternator whine.

I believe the dealer checked the timing belt and it appeared almost new, he did show photos. I have yet to replace all four wheels though. Possibly connected to the wheel issue is that on certain road surfaces it can feel a little, jittery... like its running over lots of rungs or something. That t...
