Caravan towing with a B8?

Sorry guys, does anybody here tow a caravan. If you do, how does a B8 estate 150tdi GT 2018 tow? My car has a detachable tow bar and electrics for the scary thought of putting one on the back of my pride and joy.

Engine Compartment

Does anybody have a B8 Passat where the engine area and underside of the bonnet are not painted in the cars colour? I went to view a 2018 VW Passat 2.0 TDI 150 GT estate in Atlantic Blue yesterday. The car is being offered at a very good price with delivery miles. On inspection I lifted the bonnet, ...

I would agree with the water pump issue, most common fault. With the amount of fluid you are losing that has to be the water pump, you haven't by any chance not long had a cam belt change have you?

Re: Recommendations for quality tyres??????

Simple, Set of Continental's you won't be disapointed. Oustanding grip in the wet. Done 30,000 on the fronts with about 3mm left and the backs have about 5mm left. I've tried all the big name tyres and before i had the Continentals i had michelin Primacy and they were RUBBISH. I'm no Lewis Hamilton,...

Continental every time. Excelent grip and wear. Had Pirelli's and michelins in the past and have to say they don't get close.

Had injectors replaced by VW dealer Nov 2011. Does anybody know if there is a VW guarantee regarding replaced injectors and work carried out? Re: Shell Diesel Users. V-Power or Regular ??

I use V-power over regular diesel, same reasons as above. My mates think I'm mad paying exrta for fuel, just try it for a couple of weeks or even a tank full. :D Yes, seems to give my passat a bit more gooo but it's what is going on inside that counts. Definetly better fuel consumption also and soun...

Re: B5.5 to B6, any regrets?

I love my Passat 2.0TDI 140 sport estate (57plate 30,000 miles) dispite the odd problem. Had the injector recall done by VW last Nov, high level brake light went dim which was fixed under VW warranty, front parking sensors failed fixed under VW warranty, horn failed fixed under VW warranty but then ...

Re: Blue smoke??

Yep mine does the same ( 2007 2.0TDI 140). Think it has something to do with a bit of fuel getting into the filter after the injectors have been changed. VW should change the filters when injectors have been changed. Diesels are genrelly a bit smokey from cold anyway, but I know what you mean.

Re: Parking brake problem/major service prices

VW Dealers, the service stamp isn't worth the paper it's stamped on! After your Warranty period is over, find yourself a good independent (yes they are out there) and have your car looked after properly. Took my Passat B6 for an MOT to my local VW dealer just for the convenience once, and they drove...

Re: Passat B6 over B5.5 ? Worth Buying ?

I had a B5 and loved it. I thought it was better built than the B6. The B6 is stiffer and does seem a massive leap in overall looks. if I was on a budget I would go for a mint B5.5 estate. Problem is, finding one.

If a B6 hasn't got a full VW service history, run for the hills........

We have a 2001 Golf 1.6SE on a X plate in Indigo blue. We have had it from new, has a full VW service history and has 92,000 miles on the clock and still feels like new. It's been a great car and still gives an average of 42mpg, on a steady run doing 60mph I can get 55mpg no problem. I can't recomen...

Yes, when I start mine up from cold it sounds a bit rough and throughs nasty diesel smoke out for a brief second then all is ok, mainly first thing in a morning. (this is since I had my injectors replaced free of charge last November) when it's warm it's fine. Going to give mt stelaer a call.

Re: Awfull MPG from 140BHP Estate manual

I have a 2007 2.0TDI 140 Sport estate with 30,000 miles and averages about 44mpg which i think is pretty good. I have always bought VW's and have found they get better with age. The thing to remember with a passat estate is that the back end is creating quite a bit of drag and on top of that it's a ...

My dad has these alloys on his 56 plate 2.0FSI 200BHP Passat Sport. He bought his Passat Sport new and had them changed from the original spec as an optional extra. These wheels seemed a good idea at the time as my dad wanted to tame the look of his sport model down a bit, even oredering the car fro...

Re: Travelling into Europe

We travelled Dover to Calais as we wanted a midpoint stop off in France before going on to Brittany. Won't do that route again from Coventry, best value for money from the midlands is Portmouth to Le-havre if counting the cost of your motoring holiday. Must admit though, the Passat did impress going...
