Re: which gearbox oil 6 speed tdi - official specs only please
Thanks for the replies guys, I'm told also by a couple of gearbox refurb places and a clutch place that the spec is 052 911 and they use 75w90 which satisfies the 052 911 spec for the 01e 6 speed. Turns out the bearings are disintegrated but luckily have a spare 6 speed box so ordered a rebuild kit ...

Re: Coolant Temperature Conundrum!
think changing the flange is overkill unless its broken or warped as mentioned an O Ring in the flange will need replacing - prob not a good idea using sealant either, the O Ring normally supplied with a thermostat is sufficient when fixing bolts are torqued correctly. loads of how to's on the net, ...

Re: Cambelt Gurus ????
its strange that everything was noiseless until the TB was done, which is why im not straying much from that area.. or idve probably not put on the aux belt or the ac belt just to check for noises youve pretty much changed everything you did replace twice (WP, idler roller, tensioner and belt), now ...

Re: Original Clutch And Turbo Life Expectancy?
yep, youre right .. def is one of those how long is a piece of string situations.. i think it largely depends on how the cars been looked after and serviced and of course driven/conditions and road types driven in/towing vs not towing etc etc. amongst all the other bits and bobs, could someone have ...

Re: Cambelt Gurus ????
sounds like rubbing a bit doesnt it, if the pumps been replaced and the tesoner also, it might be worth checking idler roller, they usually come with some kits along with a new bolt, if thats been changed also, it might be worth checking cam bearings. you sure nothing is rubbing cam sensor or belt n...

if adjusting that doesnt work, youll probably be better off taking the front bumper off and loosening those 3/4 bolts on both longitudenal members / crumple bars and lifting the slam panel assembly and tightening the bolts up again

try disconnecting the wiring from 'ballast' to 'lights' and then turn your headlamps on and see if the wipers turn on
try it with wiring from 'car' to 'ballast' disconnected too

ah, wouldve been good if it was possible - wonder if the later tensioner would get in the way of the damper if the damper was kept in purely for the idler roller - the roller is deffo screwed into the damper and not just through a hole in the damper housing and into the block? ive got the <01 avf an...

check the fuse for the lift pump before anything else, theres a relay for the fuel pump too - may well save you some time too
