An extra £108 a month? I would not entertain a 2.0 TDi SE for that... I run a B7 1.6S Passat estate and love it! Its done 8k in 4 months and returns over 60 mpg and costs nothing to run.
Cant see what the 2.0 SE would really give me extra (apart from the obvious), and the money I save, I use to ...

Not sure about a roof-bar system, but my Thule bars and box I used on the B6 fit and have just done 1700 miles around a wet France...

If your oil temp is in F John then its pretty similar to mine..... I see 95 to 115 deg C regularly.
If yours is set to Celcius too, I might be a bit more concerned!

Mine's almost identical at an average of 59mpg John! :esm

B7 update
Mixed Passat news from the weekend....
Some inconsiderate b*****d has driven along the side of my car and damaged both doors, arch, rear wheel and rear bumper
No note left and I was literally away from the car for 10 minutes! Grrr.
On a better note, its loosening up nicely, its done 830 ...

Re: 680 miles to a tank
I cant say how pleased I am with the B7
I suppose it is possible to get 1000 miles to a tankful but j3sus it would be boring doing it! lol
Just for comparison, this B7 is much better than the 1.9TDi B6 I had previously, that averaged about 650 miles per tank over 3 years/75k miles

Re: 680 miles to a tank
B7 1.6TDi Blue motion, 1700 miles old
I had 795 miles on the first tankful, and it's looking like about 830ish miles on the second
I do drive pretty conservatively these days, but this is a mix of M-way, A-roads and town driving
Long live the Passat!

Re: New B7 ordered today
Sounds like a really nice spec
Looking forward to seeing some pics.....
A workmate of mine has just cancelled his Golf Estate Sportline 2.0TDi order as the delivery time was quoted to be November!
He ordered a Volvo!
Surely VAG must lose lots of business this way?

Hi John,
It sounds like you are doing exactly the same as me with the starting procedure, maybe you can mention it to the dealers the next time you are there?
Yeah, the power socket in the boot and now in front of the rear passengers are very welcome additions! I had to use one of those 12v ...

I know what you mean about the rear wiper. I bought a Bora after having a mk3 Golf and thought it seemed strange, and then an E46 BMW and thay I always thought that a rear wiper would have been an worthwhile addition.
However, I did see a B6 Passat estate today that had the wiper taken off and it ...

Re: New B7 delivered last week
Hi John,
I have to admit that I have been using the CC a lot because of the novelty factor (as I didnt have it in the B6 and I really missed it, incidentally, one of the reasons for specc'ing it was the 'set and forget' for driving in 30, 40 and 50 mph limits; then I know I'm within the spedd limit ...

Re: New B7 delivered last week
First proper run in the car today, to and around Brum from Cheshire.
I brimmed it when I left to get an idea of how many miles I should be able to get from a tankful (the B6 averaged about 680).
Its nearly all motorway for me so I got on and set the CC to 69mph, had a run through and around 3 sites ...

Re: B7 Passat Ordered!
I had the winter pack on my B6, and it was the best option I chose :)
Not only was it great in the winter (obviously), if I pulled my back or it ached after a long day, pop the heated seat to 5 and Bob's your uncle! :) :) :)
I noticed last night that my radio lights up retro-blue (like the B6) and ...

Re: New B7 delivered last week
Hi John,
I have quite a strong motorsport background, and have always learned that varied loads and throttle positions are the best way to run an engine in.
Im starting with lighter (varying) loads, and limiting the rpm (upto 3k) for the first 1000 miles and then building up by 500rpm every 1000 ...

Re: New B7 delivered last week
From what I can gather, most 1.6TDi cars sem quite quick on delivery, but the 'speccier' (terrible spelling I know) it is, the longer the wait.
Not sure whether I agree that its a true B7, id have been tempted to argue its more a B6.5 Evolution rather than B7 Revolution (sorry purists!)

New B7 delivered last week
Just taken delivery of my new B7 estate on Wednesday last week.
Its a 1.6TDi S estate with a bit of a poverty spec, but it was the best I could get with my company car allowance.
So, the spec:
As above
Urano grey (which I really really like!)
Blinds in the rear doors (for the kids)
Cruise
Lumbar ...
