Re: Bluetooth rns315

Most RNS315's have bluetooth. It will probably need activating with VCDS to talk to the car, oh and the mic for the overhead console.

Re: Replace halogen headlight with LED/Xenon

My Velle is getting on for a year old, so quite a bit cheaper than a new one. Still quite a lot granted, but when I looked at the price of nice spec 5.1's, especially the Business Edition, my money should be safe. The one you saw may have been an SE. Mine is an Executive (fortunately it doesn't have...

Re: Replace halogen headlight with LED/Xenon

I've just bought a T6 Caravelle and need to do something with it's headlights. Factory LEDs are out of the question, so I was considering fitting bi-xenon projectors with a HID kit, then having LEDs in the main beam chambers for flashing duties all inside the factory twin halogen lights. Do these re...

Re: Carry on or scrap?

You could have all of the current niggles that you have with a car that's done half the mileage. My take on older cars is better the devil you know. You'll spend more than the car is worth to sort it, but what the car is worth only matters if you come to sell it. I reckon if you can service and repa...

Re: Replace halogen headlight with LED/Xenon

As a mot tester I would like to point out a few things. There's now a fail for headlamp bulb/light source and lamp being incompatible. Most led/hid headlamps are required by law to to have a cleaning device ie washer. Hid/led headlamps are required by law to to have a automatic level device. Afterm...

Re: Lowering my passat b8 2.0 bitdi but.....

I know of many people that have fitted lowering springs to Golf GTI/R etc, even with adaptive dampers with no reported issues. It's important to get a full geometry check done afterwards, but other than that it should be a straight forward job.

Re: Searching for bi-xenon headlights

Just keep searching ebay etc for cars being broken and hope you find a seller doesn't know what he has.

Are you talking £500 for the pair? If so, I'd say that's a decent price to pay.

Original Audi RS4s (circa early 2000's) with a slight drop and colour coded lower plastics. Now there's a look that worked, back when this forum was a hive of activity.

Top tip;

Mix 50:50 white spirit and fairy liquid, whisk it up and magically you will have made swarfega. Smells like it, looks like it and is the said same stuff !
Add a spoon full of sugar into the mix for added scrubbing grit.

Re: Finally got a remap today - 227Bhp & 495nm torque

Now my Amarok is completely different. You can more or less select which of its 8 gears you want by balancing throttle position and load. Frenzied kickdown only happens with that extra shove of the pedal to activate the switch. The 7 speed DSG in our Tig is quite manageable in this way too. I've fou...

Re: Finally got a remap today - 227Bhp & 495nm torque

I had already read alot of folk were unimpressed with a DSG map. The guy had altered it for me anyway to remove the torque limiter. The only thing i noticed so far is in sport mode it red lines before upping a gear in 1st 2nd and 3rd where as before it changed earlier. Not noticed it in 4th or made...

Re: B8 Passat Estate 190 & 240 Bitdi advice

It's a good call but for say 8 caravan breaks a year it makes more sense to buy a car mainly for daily use that's ok for towing as opposed to a better car for towing that's less suitable for daily life. The tigs size / boot is too lacking for our daily use with the kids etc. That's the main reason ...

Re: B8 Passat Estate 190 & 240 Bitdi advice

Don't you fancy something a little more suited for towing like a Tiguan? Being sat up a little higher and having bigger mirrors helps for better all round visibility when towing. Plus a taller car punches a bigger hole through the air making the transition of the air over the car to the 'van smoothe...

Regarding DSG maps, you won't see any gains. You'll just have full manual control as opposed to VWs version of manual.

This is what Revo say about theirs https://www.onlyrevo.com/product-detail ... sg-stage-1

Re: R Line or GT TDI? Ad blue and DSG?

With regards to the last 2, DSG, I wouldn't have anything else now, however it's very subjective. It will take a couple of weeks to learn how to get the best out of it, so a 10 minute test drive won't tell you the whole truth. You may love it and never look back, or you might hate it. It all depends...

Re: Rounded tailpipe contemplation

Bloody hell, it is right what they say about the Scots. Most would consider £15 worth a punt to see if they would work, but not consider sending them back if the were no good.

How much will the postage, packaging and the diesel to get you to the post office cost you to return them?

Re: Would you repair or get rid?

But if people didn't buy new cars, there would be no second hand cars for people on a tighter budget, or who prefer to spend their money differently. There's no right or wrong way about it. New cars are a lifestyle choice, just like big houses and expensive holidays. Some people like to have them, o...

Re: Would you repair or get rid?

This is my take on it having just spent over £700 on a service, cambelt and a few necessary jobs on my Mk2 Golf. If you spend the money, you'll know that you will have a good car under you for a good while to come. Getting rid and buying something else (I presume we're not talking reasonably new car...

Re: Improving a 2014 Passat

It's unlikely your car will have the plug for the power seat. All cars have a bespoke wiring loom dependent on spec or options fitted. You'd thing that would make no sense to do that, but seemingly it saves a couple of quid. I can't see it needing more than a fused 12V supply and an earth tho'. They...
