Re: Crack in Rocker Cover

Thanks for your comments.

I'll have this checked before they start any work. If things are bad internally then there is just no point in going ahead with a turbo (unless I was prepared to open the can of worms of an engine re-build etc)

We'll see how things go

Crack in Rocker Cover

Further to my previous post elsewhere. I'm in the process of trying to decide whether to take the plunge and have a new turbo installed (it has failed) but there is another problem which worries me. A crack has appeared in the rocker cover which may have occurred after the car was getting a new inje...

Re: 333K Mileage (and whether to keep going)

Its the BXE code :0 As confirmed from the label in the boot spare-well. I had read about this code a couple of years ago but chose not to get too concerned about it and buried my head in the sand. x_x TBH I never even checked at that time whether my car was one of them. I was already well over the 2...

Re: 333K Mileage (and whether to keep going)

Sorry I should have noted the engine type

Not sure how to get the engine code itself, but its the 1.9TDi S (105). It is a 2007 (57 plate).

333K Mileage (and whether to keep going)

Hello folks I have been registered on the forum for a while, but don't really post. I do tend to lurk and read some of the tech items and problems etc for trouble shooting. I've had my 2007 B6 Passat for nearly 10 years and it has become somewhat of an old friend. I've become quite attached to the o...

Re: Considering a B6

Thanks for the replies. I put a deposit down on one yesterday, so you can keep any horror stories to yourselves now :D lol Think thats the first time I've ever went out to look for a car and managed to bag exactly what I wanted in terms of trim level, engine, miles and colour. I found a perfect one ...

Considering a B6

Firstly I apologise if you guys get posts like this frequently however i was wondering if someone could alert me of any "major issues" with the B6. Being around since 2005/2006 i'd imagine some of these cars would be screaming any major problems with some of the mileages i've seen advertis...

Can't Get the TP off on the Gamma Stereo (B5.5)

I had a search on the site and only found one thread posted in May 2008 regarding this. I too have read the manual and echo the fact that the book neglects to tell ye how to switch the thing off. TP is now permanetly on the screen and I get Traffic interuptions (as you would expect) for what seems l...

Re: Plenum drains blocked - a helpfull guide.

I'd just like to say cheers for all the helpful info above. I found my rear passenger footwell absolutely sodding with water this week and thought I'd read something on here before about a common problem, so I did a search. My rear footwell has been slightly wet before but i though it may have been ...

Cheers

I'll have a go this weekend. Bought the bulbs at a VW dealer today

I bought 4 of them to replace them all.

4 x £3.00 = £12.00 ouch!

Yeah mate my car is a B5.5 2001 Y-Plate (same facelifted shape as your car in the picture).

By the looks of it they probably do. Its possible the bulbs are fooked.

Cheers

Heater Vents (Adjustment wheels at side)

Are the open/closed symbols at the sides of 2no. central vents and driver side vent supposed to illuminate. Passenger side only illuminates when ye give the dash above it a good stoating. :( I hate things that are supposed to illuminate when they don't. If they are supposed too i'm gonna get myself ...

Funny this should come up. My local dealer mentioned (while dealing with something else partially related) that water ingress on the B5.5 Passat (in the passenger footwell) can be caused by bad seals in the Polen filters allowing water to seep in (i don't know how this happens details etc). The pole...

Cheers for the thoughts. Spoke to the dealer and he thought it could be a wiring fault due to water ingress through the polen filter (a known VW recall that hasen't been done). Although this was over the phone it was purely a suggestion based on what info I had given him. He would have to inspect it...

Confusing Alarm And Locking

I've just read the manual for my 2001 Passat regarding the locking. alarming etc but i'm still in the dark about one wee thing thats niggling me. I can lock/ unlock my car no problem from the key fob but when i do the same manually (sticking the key in the lock) the interior alarm LED remains flashi...

Fitting a VW factory Single CD unit

I'm sure this has probably been asked and/or answered on here quite a few times already but i couldn't see a search function anywhere so here goes :D I want to fit the standard Volkswagen CD unit to my 2001 passat as it already has the Beta or Gamma tape deck (can't remember which one now) I ...

Hi there folks Just bought a 2001 VW Passat 2.0SE :D In passat shop talk i think its a B5.5 (ah think). Anyway its got a shed load of miles on it but its by far the best big saloon i've ever owned, very smooth with good handling. Its got 91K on the clock BTW. I've always wanted a Volkswagen especial...
