Re: Key Stuck in Ignition?!?
Mine started doing this randomly after I picked it up from the garage. If it hard to insert the key as well? Mine was difficult getting it in or out, I ended up (reluctantly) spraying some WD40 in the slot and that freed it up nicely, it's been fine since.

Re: Cigarette lighter light.
No pics I’m afraid but as a step by step; 1, Pull the inner sleeve/ashtray out. This simply pulls straight out 2, Once that’s out you’ll see 2 torx head screws, undo them 3, Remove/pop up (it only has to clear the ashtray) the silver trim around the gearstick. I used my fingers to do this by prising...

Re: Cigarette lighter light.
I did this job today as my OCD was the same as yours!
Actually it’s not a difficult job at all, the hardest part is prising up the silver surround around the gearstick.

Re: Stuck key
I agree, I think that would have been the best bet but WD40 is all I had. I might invest in something more appropriate and give it a spay once a year or so.

Re: Stuck key
I'm staggered at ALL the responses to this! I 'appear' to have fixed this issue. It seemed more of a mechanical fault than some sort of electric gremlin. I ended up spraying some WD40 inside the ignition slot. This didn't sit too well with me but having found a similar thread on another fo...

Stuck key
Hi folks, not posted in a while. Today I had the cambelt changed and when I came to pick it up he said the ring on my key had broke, the plastic part had snapped - not bother I though but a bit annoying. I do have a spare. So I drove off but noticed the key seemed a bit rough when I pushed it in and...

Re: 2006 2.0FSI SE-to buy or not please help
I've have a 2.0TFSI model (sport) since December '16 and have been pleased with it. The only issue I've had so far is a broken wire/connection from the ECU to the FPR/camshaft sensor. That took some time to diagnose but it seems o.k. now. It's recently passed the MOT with only an advisoriy for tyres...

It might not be anything at all to do with the fix VW did, it was 2 months ago after all. I'd wait and see what they find first.

Re: Leaking windscreen washer fluid.
I had a similar issue on my old B5.5. I traced the leak to the rubber seal between the motor and the washer bottle (in the passenger side wheel arch, behind the plastic cover) I ended up replacing the seal........ still leaked so I covered the area in silicoln sealent and that sorted it.

Idiots. They should have used a B6, that way the EPB would have jammed on and caused all kinds of mayhem trying to remove it!

I would probably start by re-connecting any cables you cut through and go from there! Is the battery in good health?

Estate boot warning triangle
Has anyone got a picture of the triangle fitted in the boot? Mine didn't come with one and the one I've bought doesn't fit. I've searched the net but not coming up with one specific for the estate.

There is a guide on here that shows you how to go about repairing them. It might not work in every case but is worth trying first.

Re: Central Locking Problem
A '52 plate B6? Are you sure you're not driving a B5.5? If you are door lock failures are pretty common on them - you'll need a new lock mechanism which are around £20ish on eBay. The alarm going off and windown/central locking being dead seem like you've missed something when you put the door back ...

Re: Cigarette lighter/12v socket
From the parts catalogue it looks like that section of the console (the panel with the flap in the middle) is separate, so it might be worth getting a quote from a dealer. Otherwise a trip to a breakers yard could work. Quick update on that console with the flap. They have them on eBay (Chinese) I ...

Re: Thinking of buying a B6.....
Just a bit of an update regarding the key. I called Chester VW and they tell me the price of the key is £161.34 and the coding is currently £75. So £236.34 all in.
