The Falkland Islands are really nothing to do with Argentina - just because Argentina is close by doen't make it theres! They have discussed several times with Britain the transfer of the islands but the people that live there say they want to remain British. They have been brought up there, speak E...

Re: new clutch / flywheel needed now

I'm surprised your clutch has lasted this long! If your car has done 100k on the original cluch AND has managed a MAP session whichout it slipping, I'd imagine a new standard clutch would be o.k. to use, perhaps with a SMF? I would avoid a paddle clutch for as long as you possibly can!

The most likely things are (in this order) 1, pollen filter housing 2, leaking dear seal 3, grommet near the brake servo which has the bonnet release cable running through it 4, a bust heater matrix. http://www.ukpassats.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9412 I put some pictures on page 5 re seali...

That is highly impressive. Are you actually able to get that power down? I find my Passat is terrible for traction (possibly partially down to poo tyres)

Do you mind me asking, how much has this cost you to build?

Won't the ECU stop it from overfuelling? Until that's mapped it should be fine despite the larger injectors I'd have thought. I wouldn't gun the car all over the place obviously.

I've never done this job before but would it not be easier lifting the engine up a bit on a hoist rather than dropping the subframe, then having to re-allign it?

Re: Headlight cleaning

I did mine with something like 600, 800, 1200 then maybe 1500. Plenty of soapy water and spend about 5 minutes with each grade. Keep the wet and dry nice and wet as you're doing it. Once finished I used some random Turtle Wax (all I had!) to give them some protection. Not perfect but far better than...

Crikey. It seemed somewhat over the top but I guess in this day and age the Police simply can't take any chances in such situations. I'm sure if the officers knew the man was elderly and disabled they wouldn't have used any force at all - but they didn't know this when he was ignoring them. The bott...

I wash mine myself in the summer but during the winter I usually pay £5 for the local hand wash to do it. I CBA standing outside in the freezing cold doing it myself, risking catching a cold then spreading it round the family. I have 2 young boys so we have enough going round as it is!

Re: Had a go at repairing cloudy lights ?

I recently done mine, I think the grades I used were 600, 1200, 1500 and finally 2000 wet and dry with loads of soapy water. After that lot I went over them with Turtle Wax (the only stuff I had laying around) They came up pretty well. Not as good as new headlights but far cheaper!
