Re: 1.8T PCV Cleanout
2 things to add yes i have also cut off said bracket and maybe why the car is holding back could be fuel pump on the way out, our old a4 1.8t 190q b6 was a different car after changing the pump (it failed leaving the mrs stranded) Iain I think the fuel pump is fine. I've had it on a rolling road an...

Re: 1.8T PCV Cleanout
The metal pipe that runs from the back of the cylinder head, I cut the bracket off that with an angle grinder, much simpler to do the job now. The coolant flange can leak after removing that pipe so keep an eye on it. I didn't bother putting the bolts back on the pipe as they're not really needed. ...

By the way Costco sell Castrol RS 5W 30 for £29. As far as I know it's the same as the Quantum stuff they sell in the dealers in a different bottle. I'm not sure how much they charge for 4 litres?

Re: 1.8T PCV Cleanout
How did you get the pipes off that run down the back of the engine and under the inlet manifold? I've cleaned out all my system apart form this and if it's anything like the rest of the pipes, then it's bound to be a right state! Cheers, Giles ;) Basically it's a faff! I removed the header tank and...

1.8T PCV Cleanout
I did this job yesterday - argh! What a horrible, dirty, awkward job that was. I managed to get all the pipes off and they were extremely gunked up so I gave them a good clean in hot soapy water with the help of a toothbrush. I haven't used the car much since but it does seem smoother and the idle i...

Re: Car got hit
This is obviously going to have to go gown the insurance route unless he coughs up the cash - how likely is that? Probably unlikely I'd say. If I was you I'd just tell your insurance company what has happened and give them the details. They'll sort it out and it shouldn't cost you anything. You *mig...

Re: Car got hit
Unfortunately they'll write the car off all day long. I reckon a rough price for the repair - new door and panel repair/paint will be over a grand alone (they'll quote for a new VW door not a used one) plus the price of the hire car and I think you'll be up to about £1500.00.....

Re: New Passat owner! Tiptronic problem
The first thing I would do is a VCDS scan - free to download from the Rosstech site and you just need an £8 lead off eBay. I would suspect the pollen filter plunum is letting in the water. This can be easily fixed by sealing the housing to stop water getting past it and into the car. I would pull t...

Yes, 3 garages I would recommend although I'm not sure where you are exactly? 1, Motech 01513392100. This is a friends garage based on the Welsh Road. He can be quire hard to get hold of but does a great job at a very fair price 2, Montador Engineering 01516474422. Based in Birkenhead. 3, Dave Campb...

Try a new battery in the key. Don't think that will have any effect as it still happens if I lock the car via the door lock.[/quote] I had similar issues to you and when I changed the battery in the fob it stopped. This could have been by coinsidence but for the sake of a couple of quid it's worth ...

Best speaking to a company that does such things. If it's just unsoldering a couple of chips then installing one I would imagine thats only about an hours work. £100 tops?

I thought I'd hate this, I even wanted to hate this....... but it's actually very good! Some big names in the field, mostly ex-GP drivers.
It's a shame about the noise (or lack of) though I must admit.

Wingz123, you seem stressed just by reading the post! Car/wheel value aside he's taken his car in for some new tyres and they've ballsed up one of his wheels - nothing more, nothing less. Re: Boost adjusting?
It's probably been remapped/chipped. If you're looking at increasing the boost that's the way to go, although in your caswe I suspect thats already been done. If you want more power you can consider a bigger turbo and more boost/other mods.
