Had another look at the timing. Obviously catch see the crank pulley so I removed no.1 glow plug and inserted a thin alloy rod. As far as I can tell it is at TDC when the cam pulley is in position. It is starting to look a timing issue. The syncro angle not show it up at it is in relation to the flywheel, which was replaced with a Valeo unit. Might pull out a glow plug at the weekend and check again.

Plot thickens. Checked injectors on both engines. Both are 038130073ba. Can't see the engine number properly. Looks like there is some raised lettering at the top both can't be sure. Wonder could I have got the cambelt timing wrong although you would think that I wouldn't get a reading for the synch...

Thanks Ray. They are very cloudy and the dips are dangerously bad, even with 35w hids. I did polish them a few years ago and they came up good for a year or so. Now there is condensation in them as well. I don't mind buying new lights if there will be a noticeable improvement.
