Re: b4 passat vr6exclusiv,rough price please i cant find a v

Fair enough, these guys seem to know better than me. With any car its ultimately worth what someone will pay for it, be careful of people with vested interests though...... and it seems RB is on it already, GLWS :D

Re: b4 passat vr6exclusiv,rough price please i cant find a v

£1200 for parts if you break it right down including the subframes but i doubt you would get more than £800 for the car complete. I had the last B3 VR6 estate and couldnt sell it complete hence knowing how much it is worth in bits......You may even struggle to get the £1200 seeing as its a B4....

Leaving the B3 fold for a while

Following the breaking of my VR6 as i couldnt sell it i have become a little disallusioned with the old B3 so have scratched an itch i have long held for a soft top and bought this http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff60/DoobieB3/Photo0345.jpg http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff60/DoobieB3/Photo03...

Re: Where have all the B3 parts gone?

Some racers fit narrower beams into the wider cars to get less weight and more tyre... I stand corrected on the beam. Should know better than to correct you !!!!!!

Re: Where have all the B3 parts gone?

Matt i beg to differ regarding fitting a passat axle into a MK2 its been done loads of times. info is here.... http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1532356-A2-VR6-FAQ&highlight=passat+rear+axle+mk2 You can pretty much transfer everything apart from the body panels from a B3/B4 passat into e...

Re: Where have all the B3 parts gone?

To answer your question Matt i think a MK3 golf rear beam is the same as are corrado ones. The guy who bought my engine and running gear was planning to put it into a MK2 golf but reckoned the Passat ones generally had an easier life than the golf ones.

Re: Where have all the B3 parts gone?

It would be worthwhile to buy a Passat to strip it, I made more from mine stripped than i was asking for the whole car and with the exception of a few bits and bobs everything went. The only real problem i had was with the odd long time passat owners expecting parts for peanuts like you used to be a...

Re: is refurbing alloys ourselves straightforward?

Having refurbed a set of wheels a couple of years ago i would suggest you do all the prep work yourself get them perfect but stop at the painting stage, wheels are in a very exposed position and get stones etc thrown at them all the time. By the time you have bought alloy sealer, filler/primer, unde...

Re: Fuel tank help needed.

Pump and sender unit are one item, it is relatively easy to replace just take out the old one and pop a new one in, you dont need to remove the tank to do this. Its likely the saloon and estate are the same but to check just remove yours and compare it with the new one before you buy it.

Re: Gt engine

B3 GT's came in either 8 or 16v form in the 2 litre. So 2e 8v or as mif says 9a 16v. B3's only came injected. IIRC the GT engines were the same as the ordinary Passats its only the interior and exterior trim which is different. If this is wrong i am sure i will be corrected........

Re: B4 clutch master cylinder help

The difference is where the master cyclinder is i would guess on LHD cars the pipe goes straight down to the clutch whereas on RHD the pipe goes across the scuttle and then down. Therefore the connector is straight out the end on LHD and out the side on RHD.

Re: i see alot of B4's with 5 stud whheels

B3 VR6's (and some later diesels so i am told, as i have not seen one in this country) came with 5 stud wheels as standard as did later B4's with the VR6, 2 litre 16v and 1.9tdi diesel iirc. The advantage is bigger brakes. Some say there is also a wider/ better choice of wheels for the 5 stud but i ...

Re: Removal of fuel tank?

You dont have to jack the car up but it does make it easier, not too high though unless you have a second pair of hands to steady the tank. The fuel system is under pressure so if its petrol pull the fuel pump fuse and crank the engine until it stops. Hold a rag around the fuel pipe as you take it of...
