Re: B5.5 1.9TDi Sport modding... What would you recommend?

Sorry Gazwould, picked up my new motor last night. Probably not as tidy as yours but only 122k on the clock to be fair. It’s going to be a workhorse anyway... If you’re considering putting your car back to closer to standard at all when you sell it, keep me informed. I’d be interested in buying quit...

B5.5 1.9TDi Sport modding... What would you recommend?

Just about to pick up my 2nd inky blue AVF 1.9TDI Sport Estate, my 4th B5/5.5 Passat (all with a 1.9TDI engine!) and 5th B5 shape (I had a 2.5 V6 TDI quattro A4 too) car. You could say I like them! Anyway... I know what to look for on these, all the usual issues etc. The car seems pretty straight an...

Hello... Again...

Bit of a return for me! Picking up another inky blue B5.5 Passat 1.9Tdi Sport Estate tomorrow, just over 3 years since I sold my last one. This will be my 4th B5/5.5 Passat (I also had a B5 Audi A4 2.5TDi Quattro estate too!) so you could say I like them... :esm

Re: 3rd cambelt change due

Also would like to know who/where to go to get cambelt done locally to me (Worcester) as cost effectively as possible. Got a B5.5 130TDI Sport that's probably a few months overdue a cambelt change.

Re: What's it worth?

I sold a similar age and milage Renault Megane 5dr hatch 1.9DCi for £600 a few months ago. To a Polish guy. What's my point? A good condition diesel runabout is still worth good money on the private market. Obviously I've not seen your car, but some good photos, an advert on gumtree, and you'll hav...

Re: Baggy 6 speed Box... Opinions please...

Cheers guys Decided in the end that although newer, lower milage, and on paper a better car, the 4Motion felt like a bit of a tractor to drive where my FWD 6spd Sport (same engine, suspension etc.) that is 2 years older and with higher milage, feels like a sports car in comparison! Couldn't even put...

Baggy 6 speed Box... Opinions please...

Just went to look at a 53 plate 1.9TDI 4Motion this evening. The car was very good, aside from a couple of minor points. One of which was that the gearbox was exceptionally baggy! By which, I mean, that it didn't want to self centre as such, and was easy to select 3rd instead of 5th or 1st instead o...

Re: Removing Dog Smell...?

Got a professional valeter in in the end. The amount of Dog Hairs (that I couldn't see!) that he managed to get out of the boot carpet was phenomenal! Got him to do the full interior properly, now it smells nowhere near as bad as it did.

Re: The Cyclist Thread (Bike pics please)

Some nice bikes on here so far guys. Also got the towbar mounted Thule rack which is good cos it's out of the way and doesn't hurt economy too badly, but it isn't really designed for modern MTB's with big tyres, long wheelbases, flat pedals and wide bars. There's often a little fettling required to ...

Re: Drum & Bass - put your tunes up here

Here's a track I made a few months ago sampling Nina Simone's "Feeling Good" (made it just before about 3 big releases all came out sampling the same song incidentally!) https://soundcloud.com/markbonnes/feeling-good D&B isn't my normal genre, but thought I'd have a go anyway... Let me...

The Cyclist Thread (Bike pics please)

Any other cyclists on here? My new B5.5 Passat wagon (my 3rd B5/5.5) has arrived now, chosen because quite simply they're bloody awesome for carting people and bikes about in comfort, economically and reliably. So who else is a keen cyclist then? Here are some pics of my current bikes (I'm more of a...

Non working fag lighter

Just picked up my B5.5 wagon last night, and one minor niggle is the 12v fag lighter doesn't seem to be working.

Not a biggie, but I use my Sat Nav almost all the time, and/or have an iPhone charger plugged in too.

How easy is it to fix? And what do I need to do to fix it?

Cheers

Re: Removing Dog Smell...?

Don't steam clean the dog, you might kill it. Temp him out with a nice juicy bone. Oh wait............................................... I don't need to worry about that one... I asked why the Passat was no longer required, and had been replaced with a Toyota Aygo. Apparently it was cos he no long...

Removing Dog Smell...?

Just picked up my 51 plate B5.5 wagon last night. Car is in VGC, interior is mint apart from... It's been used as a dog car, so even though the rear seats (and probably even the passenger seat) have literally never been sat in, the car smells of dog! What's the best way to properly get rid of the sm...

Re: Passat 2002 TDI 130bhp Sport 62.4 mpg!!

Just picked up my new (to me anyway) 51 plate B5.5 Wagon, a 130pd TDi sport 6spd from just south of Manchester last night. Drove back down to Worcester after zeroing everything. 60.4mpg was the result for a 90 mile trip! OK, avg speed was only 55mph over the entire journey, but then that's cos the M...

My B5.5 130TDi Sport Wagon

Just picked this up this evening... https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/t1.0-9/10288717_10152362064616998_4930703436913774008_n.jpg Probably paid a tiny bit more than I wanted to, but it's been well looked after. Slight ding in rear door, and wet dog smell that needs removing from...

Hi Shane Worcester based myself, and just about to get back into the world of Passat ownership... Funnily enough, with a B5.5 1.9TDi 130 sport Estate like yours too! Have owned a couple of B5's before, so know a bit about em at least, not had one in 3 years though (had a B5 A4, a Mondeo and a Renaul...

Budget tyre advice

Have bought cars with federals on, and Nankangs, as well as all sorts of other cheap brands... All were pretty rubbish to be fair! The federal 595 super steels didn't grip too badly, but they were very loud, and when I changed them the fuel economy went up by 10% from the moment they were off! Had a...

Can't guarantee whether or not it's exactly what you need (maybe someone else can clarify?) but I've just broken my 110bhp tdi passat due to engine failure. The turbo on it is still in fine condition though... It's marked up as a Garrett VNT15, I'm almost certain the 100bhp PD engines used the same ...

Re: Hello from Gloucestershire.

Hi, Worcester here, though grew up in/around Bredon, GF lives in Tewkesbury too. Though I've not got a Passat either now since it died on me, just bought myself a B5 A4 2.5TDi Quattro (another motor you may want to consider!) for very similar reasons you state. That and with 4 wheel drive, at least ...
